Duplicate your upper-bass MIDI to a new sub. Load a stock synth: single sine, no unison/FX/dist. Same MIDI notes only; keep just the fundamental.
Set the sub’s amp release very short so note‑offs hit silence. Shorten the sub MIDI notes to make tiny gaps; low‑solo with a stock EQ while you tweak.
Alt method: shape the amp envelope so it decays to silence just before the next note; confirm by ear or on any stock meter/scope. A/B against step 2.
If you hear clicks on low keys, raise release up to 30 ms. If it smears into the next hit or kills the gap, back it off.
Sidechain the sub to the kick with a stock compressor keyed from the kick; pull gain until the kick stays clean and the sub reads as hits.
