Load a square-wave synth (e.g., Operator), init patch: short amp decay for pluck.
Set its filter to low-pass, slope 24 dB/oct.
Duplicate the synth for bass, lengthen amp decay, set filter slope 12 dB/oct.
Adjust each filter cutoff by ear: pluck cutoff high enough to keep snap, bass cutoff low enough to sit under.
Play together; shift cutoff relationships until the pluck pokes through without masking the bass.

The steeper 24 dB/oct slope on the pluck sharply attenuates harmonics above cutoff, while the shallower 12 dB/oct slope on the bass leaves more harmonic body, reducing frequency masking.
